Circle’s CCTP Adds Prepaid Fees for Fast Transfers

Circle’s Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol, or CCTP, now supports prepaid fees for fast USDC transfers. Under the previous fee model, protocol charges were deducted directly from the USDC amount sent on the destination chain. The update allows developers to quote and collect fees before a transfer is executed, using either the source chain’s native gas token or USDC. This is designed to make the amount received by users more predictable and prevent destination-chain deductions from reducing the expected USDC balance. CCTP’s Quote API can calculate fees across supported chains and combine Fast Transfer and Forwarding charges into a single quote, removing the need for developers to build separate systems for each protocol fee. The prepaid-fee feature currently supports USDC transfers across all EVM chains covered by CCTP. Transfers initiated from Solana are not supported, while transfers to Solana remain available.
